IPC-2581 and ODB++ viewer for unified handoff packages.

Validate modern package integrity in browser before quote release, without EDA install overhead.

What it does

  • Loads IPC-2581 (Rev B) and ODB++ packages.
  • Layer, netlist and component visualization.
  • Supports early validation handoffs between engineering and manufacturing.
  • Complements the Gerber viewer for legacy-vs-modern packages.
What it does

IPC-2581 vs ODB++ vs Gerber — production handoff comparison

Gerber + Excellon + CPL: Three files (or more), units / origins must be re-stated for each.

ODB++: Single archive; layers, netlist and components in one place; mature in the EMS world.

IPC-2581: Open standard; single archive; component intelligence and DFM data first-class.

What we accept: All three; IPC-2581 / ODB++ preferred for fewer handoff defects.

Recommended workflow with the viewer

Export from EDA → load in viewer → verify layer set and netlist before quote request.

Use the component view to confirm reference designators match the BOM.

Compare stackup metadata against the intended design — most handoff errors live here.

Save a screenshot per layer for the design review record.

Why we publish it

IPC-2581 and ODB++ remove the need for separate Gerber, drill and pick-and-place files.

We encourage their use because they reduce manufacturing handoff risk.

The viewer makes the format approachable for teams not yet on it.
